Dear Krug Families,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! I’m Claire Lansford, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Krug Elementary community as your new principal. It’s an honor to step into this role and work alongside such an amazing group of students, families, and staff.

I come to East Aurora School District 131 from Kaneland CUSD 302, where I served as Assistant Principal. Before that, I was an Assistant Principal and Dean of Students in Bellwood SD 88. My journey in education started with a degree in Music Education from Western Illinois University and later a Master’s in Educational Leadership from North Central College. I’ve always believed in the power of learning, growing, and making school a place where kids love to be.

This year, we’re officially “In Our Learning Era!” It’s all about creating an environment where every student feels a sense of belonging and is excited to take on new learning adventures. Just like any great era, it’s about growth, confidence, and finding your voice. At Krug, we’re committed to building strong connections, encouraging students to take on challenges, and ensuring every learner feels safe, supported—and most importantly—heard. Together, we’re ready to make this our best chapter yet!

Here are a few of our big goals this year:

  • Help more students meet or exceed grade-level expectations in reading and math, aiming for a 5% increase across all student groups based on next spring’s state tests.
  • Build a strong culture of belonging, where every student knows they matter.

We want every Krug Cougar here each day, ready to learn and grow. Our attendance goal is to reach 95% or higher school-wide, and we know we can get there with your support. Every day counts—and every absence is a missed opportunity for connection and learning. If your child will be absent or if you need help with attendance, please don’t hesitate to call the school office. We’re here to help!

And we can’t do it without you! Your involvement—whether it’s volunteering at an event, joining us for conferences, or simply asking your child what they learned today—makes a huge impact. If you’re interested in volunteering or getting more involved, our doors are always open. Just give us a call or stop by the office.

¡Bienvenidos al año escolar 2025-2026! Soy Claire Lansford y estoy encantada de estarme uniendo a la comunidad de Krug Elementary como su nueva directora. Es un honor asumir este cargo y trabajar junto a un grupo tan maravilloso de estudiantes, familias y personal.

Llego al Distrito Escolar 131 de East Aurora proveniente desde Kaneland CUSD 302, donde me desempeñé como subdirectora. Antes de eso, fui subdirectora y decana de estudiantes en Bellwood SD 88. Mi trayectoria en el ámbito educativo comenzó con una licenciatura en Educación Musical de Western Illinois University y posteriormente una maestría en Liderazgo Educativo de North Central College. Siempre he creído en el poder del aprendizaje, en el crecimiento y en hacer de la escuela un lugar donde a los niños les encante estar.

Este año, ¡estamos oficialmente en “Nuestra Era de Aprendizaje”! Todo gira en torno a crear un entorno donde cada estudiante tenga un sentido de pertenecía y esté entusiasmado por emprender nuevas aventuras de aprendizaje. Como en cualquier gran era, se trata de crecer, tener confianza y encontrar su propia voz. En Krug, estamos comprometidos a construir vínculos sólidos, animar a los estudiantes a afrontar retos y garantizar que cada estudiante se sienta seguro, apoyado—y sobre todo—escuchado. ¡Juntos, estamos listos para hacer de este nuestro mejor capítulo!

Estos son algunos de nuestros grandes objetivos para este año:

  • Ayudar a más estudiantes a alcanzar o superar las expectativas de su nivel académico en lectura y matemáticas, con el objetivo de lograr un aumento del 5% en todos los grupos de estudiantes según las pruebas estatales de la próxima primavera.
  • Crear una sólida cultura de pertenencia, en la que todos los estudiantes sepan que importan.

Queremos que todos los Cougars de Krug estén aquí todos los días, listos para aprender y crecer. Nuestra meta de asistencia es alcanzar el 95% o más en toda la escuela y sabemos que podemos lograrlo con su apoyo. Cada día cuenta—y cada ausencia es una oportunidad perdida para conectar y aprender. Si su hijo/a estará ausente o necesita ayuda con la asistencia, por favor, no dude en llamar a la oficina de la escuela. ¡Estamos aquí para ayudar!

¡Y no podemos hacerlo sin usted! Su participación—ya sea como voluntario(a) en un evento, acompañándonos en conferencias o simplemente preguntándole a su hijo(a) sobre lo que aprendió hoy—tiene un gran impacto. Si le interesa ser voluntario(a) o participar más activamente, nuestras puertas siempre están abiertas. Simplemente llámenos o pase por la oficina.
