Soon after Governor Pritzker ordered schools to close in March, the EASD 131 Board of Education approved an emergency order for 6,000 iPads for our elementary students to better engage students and enhance their remote learning. At a time when school districts all over the globe are purchasing digital learning devices, our district was able to quickly place an order.
On April 20, devices began arriving, and our district-wide K-5 Technology team went to work. Staff members unboxed, sorted, and loaded 6,000 tablets with elementary apps, preparing them for student use at home, whether the student has home internet access, or not.
Beginning April 27, iPads will be distributed to our K-5 students to enhance their remote learning. Families should look for a call from their school regarding their assigned pick up schedule.
